A SHOCK death will rock the finale of the hit ITV drama on Sunday.

And that’s not the only gripping storyline.

Sickness will strike Buckingham Palace, there will be a surprise exit from the royal household and there is some very bad news for one character.

Writer Daisy Goodwin claims the last episode of the period series – starring Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes – will be a tear-jerker.

She teased: “It’s very dramatic, there’s so much going on. There’s a death and there will be tears.

“It’s not dry history. I’m trying to make it feel as exciting as it was then.”

The drama is based on Queen Victoria’s diaries.

Although this is the last episode of the current run, fans will not have to wait too long for more as the cast have filmed a special Christmas episode.

Daisy told TV Times: “It’s so exciting and I hope it’ll be a delight for people. Albert is so crucial to the way we celebrate the festive season now.

“We see him take Christmas to unimaginable heights.

“You’ll be astonished by the royal Christmas; they really go for it. There’s not just one tree – every member of the family has one! There’s snow, ice, a dramatic rescue and even an African princess.”
