THEY MOCK SINGING

ANDREW Flintoff’s only experience for his stage debut has been belting out songs during drunken karaoke sessions.

The former cricketer will show off his “vocal range” in Fat Friends: The Musical.

But Freddie admits that his own kids are embarrassed by his singing and he only used to belt out the classics “after a few pints”.

The 39-year-old takes on the role of Kevin, described as “a big lad, not the sharpest knife in the drawer but loveable”.

The 2005 Ashes hero has a solo performance in the show as well as a couple of duets – but has been kept away from big dance numbers by nervy producers.

When asked by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning if he could sing, he said: “I hope so. I only used to sing at the karaoke after a few pints. I don’t do that any more.

“I only have to do a little bit of dancing, they’ve strategically left me out of the big dance numbers.

“I don’t want to be typecast, he is laddish and a bit dim. Is that describing him or is that me?”

Freddie said that his latest career move meant he was no longer the “cool dad” to his children, Holly, 13, Corey, 11, and Rocky, nine. He explained: “My daughter is 13 so I’m not a cool dad now. She just laughs at me.

“It seems musicals are the final straw for her.”
