Kaepernick can’t get a Green light

-

AARON RODGERS looks like he is out for the season but that will not offer a way back into the NFL for quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick started the national anthem protests that have swept the league, kneeling to complain about social injustice.

And he has been without a team since leaving San Francisco 49ers earlier this year.

Kaepernick, 29, filed a grievance against the NFL this week, claiming teams have conspired to deny him a job.

Another door was closed by Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy, who lost superstar Rodgers to a broken collarbone during the 23-10 loss to Minnesota Vikings at the weekend.

Packers fans started a petition pleading with their club to sign Kaepernick.

But McCarthy insisted he will stick with unproven back-ups Brett Hundley and Joe Callahan and lost his cool when asked if he might bring in free agent Kaepernick.

McCarthy said: “I’ve got three years invested in Brett Hundley, two years invested in Joe Callahan. “The quarterback room is exactly where it needs to be. We are fortunate to have a great quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. We are committed to the path we’re on.” Green Bay are joint top of their division with Vikings, but this weekend’s visit of New Orleans Saints will provide Hundley with a stiff test. The NFL’s only unbeaten record went last week when Kansas City Chiefs were downed 19-13 at home by Pittsburgh Steelers. They visit Oakland Raiders tonight and still have the joint-best record in the NFL, at 5-1, with Philadelphia Eagles, who host Washington Redskins on Monday.
