Pal death shock for Mario
FOOTBALL star Mario Balotelli was devastated last night after a close friend, described as a “complete gentleman”, was found knifed to death in a luxury London flat.
A CLOSE friend of exManchester City and Liverpool star Mario Balotelli has been knifed to death at his luxury flat in west London.
Wealthy businessman Mayowa Ogunbayo was found collapsed from a stab wound to the heart at an apartment he shared with his fiancée in Park Royal.
Paramedics battled to save the 29-year-old but he was pronounced dead several hours later. Balotelli, 27, was last night said to be “devastated” by the loss of his pal, who he got to know during his colourful Premier League career.
The pair shared a love of fast cars and would spend nights out partying during the maverick footballer’s incident-packed time in England.
In a series of Facebook posts, Mayowa shared pictures and videos of him with the Italian superstar, who now plays in France with Nice.
Nigeria-born entrepreneur Mayowa was also shown with his other celebrity buddies, including ex-Newcastle ace Obafemi Martins. Friends said the university graduate ran his own entertainment company and had recently got engaged to a professional dancer.
Friend Ayodele Samson said: “We can’t believe this has happened, he was a complete gentleman.”
He added: “He always made it clear to me that Mario Balotelli was a great guy.”
Police are probing Mayowa’s death and have arrested a 21-year-old woman at the flat on suspicion of murder. She has since been bailed.
