HARRY IN OSAMA’S HIT PLOTS
Grand Tour host sets a new record
OSAMA Bin Laden plotted to kill Prince Harry in Iraq, according to declassified CIA files.
The 9/11 mastermind downloaded several news articles on Harry’s proposed military assignment in 2007 with his unit, the Blues and Royals.
Army generals decided at the last minute to secretly send Harry to Helmand province, Afghanistan, instead, putting the royal out of reach.
The previously top secret information, released yesterday, was found on computers in Bin Laden’s home in Abbottabad, Pakistan, shortly after he was killed aged 54 by US Navy Seal Rob O’Neill.
Terror analyst Bill Roggio said: “Without a doubt it shows Prince Harry was a target for al-Qaida, they were gunning for him, and also when he was deployed to Afghanistan.
“The Taliban were gunning for him and al-Qaida were gunning for him.”
About 470,000 files were released by the CIA from the recovered hard drives.
They included his personal diary and a video of his son Hamza’s wedding.
They also showed Bin Laden liked to binge watch Hollywood movies such as Cars, Chicken Little and Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs as well as documentaries on himself.
PETROLHEAD Jeremy Clarkson has smashed a world speed record – in a boat.
The car-mad telly host clocked up 47.81mph in a converted motor while filming a new series of Amazon show The Grand Tour.
He did the trick in the threewheel vehicle that had been transformed into a powerboat.
It earned him a new water speed record for the fastest ever trip in the “experimental amphibious unlimited class”.
He wrote his name in history on Coniston Water in the Lake District where Donald Campbell died in a 1967 crash trying to set a new water speed record.
The boat Clarkson used began life as a ’70s two-seater microcar with a lift-up canopy and side screens instead of doors. The car was made by Bond, which is now part of Reliant, the firm behind Only Fools And Horses legend Del Boy’s motor.
Clarkson and co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May filmed across five continents for the new series.
