Mellor, who has penned hits such as The Syndicate, Fat Friends, In The Club and Band Of Gold, got the idea for her latest drama while going to register her mum’s death at Leeds Town Hall.

Love, Lies & Records starts Thursday, November 16 at 9pm on BBC One.

TELEVISION’S smuttiest comedy is coming to a city near you as part of a live tour.

A stage production of the ITV hit will be heading to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal next September.

Derren Litten has penned a new script for the show, which will then tour around the country. He said: “I’ve loved 10 years of writing Benidorm. But despite a successful writing career, I’m first and foremost a performer, so have always been frustrated I couldn’t hear the audience’s laughter.

“This tour of Benidorm Live will not only make a dream come true, but will also mean I no longer have to stand in strangers’ gardens listening at their windows at 9 o’clock on cold winter evenings.”
