WHAT A GUY!

-

THERE were fireworks and finally some fight as Everton came from behind for a critical Guy Fawkes Night victory.

At 2-0 down, the Toffees looked dead and buried – as did David Unsworth’s job prospects as he faced a fourth loss from four games in temporary charge.

But as the Everton caretaker boss went on the pitch at the end to roars from the crowd, there was a glimmer of hope as fireworks lit up the sky.

It might still be unlikely chairman Bill Kenwright and major shareholder Farhad Moshiri will allow Unsworth to permanently succeed Ronald Koeman as Everton manager.

But back in the summer, it would have been harder to believe the Goodison crowd would be singing Oumar Niasse’s name in November after a win that lifted them out of the drop zone.

But they were, because it was the Senegal ace who started the comeback completed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and a 91st-minute penalty from Leighton Baines.

Incredibly Watford, who had led through Richarlison and Christian Kabasele, still had time to level. But ex-Toffee Tom Cleverley missed a penalty in the ninth minute of the 12 added on for injuries to keeper Heurelho Gomes and Kabasele.
