HALL OR NOTHING

- By JULIE STOTT

RYAN HALL admits England are feeling the heat after failing to thrash Lebanon.

Hall and his team-mates were never in danger in their 29-10 win over the underdogs, but they also never looked like a team that could win the World Cup.

They now have one group game left, against France in Perth on Sunday, before the do-or-die stages start.

And Leeds winger Hall says it’s vital they hit form in that encounter.

He said: “You’ve got to play well ahead of the knockouts. That’s when the pressure starts building.

“We’ve got one more game before that, against France, and we’ve got to execute better and play better.”

Coach Wayne Bennett criticised his players after England – leading 22-6 at the break in Sydney – scored just one more try and allowed the Cedars a second touchdown.

Hall said: “Wayne expected more from us, which is right from him. We’re not too pleased with how we performed.”

Jermaine McGillvary will find out today whether he will be charged for biting the arm of Lebanon hooker Robbie Farah.

If he is, the Huddersfield winger will appear before a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday.

England are set to play Papua New Guinea in the quarters-finals after they beat Ireland 14-6 yesterday.
