A MUM has splashed out more than £5,000 transforming her seven-year-old daughter into a real life Barbie doll.

Little Chiara Darwood has entered dozens of beauty pageants. And for each one she goes through a gruelling five-hour make-up regime then slips into a £500 frock.

The night before the big event, mum Charlotte, 27, spends three hours coating her little girl in fake tan and pasting fake nails on her.

She then takes another two hours to plaster the youngster in layers of thick makeup to transform her into a miniature beauty queen.

But the proud mother insists Chiara loves the hours spent being primped and pampered before being judged for her appearance.

Charlotte said: “She absolutely loves it. She has always been such a girlie girl and she loves getting all dressed in her little outfits.

“She is so beautiful. She’s like a little Barbie doll when she’s up on stage, she looks like she belongs up there.”

To begin with, dad Anthony was shocked at having to fork out thousands of pounds on his daughter’s hobby.

And Charlotte admitted: “My husband pays for everything, which he wasn’t too happy about at first. We do rinse him, bless him.

“But now that he has seen how much doing pageants has boosted her confidence he doesn’t mind so much.”

Already Chiara has bagged 15 crowns and more sashes than her mum can count.

Charlotte, from Grimsby, added: “The minute she stops enjoying them, we will stop doing them.”
