WARNE ON GLORY RIDE

Derby win to net son limo treat

- By TIM GRAY

PAUL WARNE is eyeing up a special trip for his son Mack if Rotherham win today’s Yorkshire derby at Doncaster.

The Millers boss plans to hire a limousine to take teenager Mack to school on Monday morning – and silence pals who have been giving his boy grief all week.

Warne said: “We live in a village which is closer to Doncaster than it is to Rotherham and my son goes to school with all Donny fans.

“They have been winding him up about how their team is going to beat his dad’s side, so he’s been begging me not to lose this game.

“He knows he’ll be in for a lot more stick if Rovers beat us but hopefully we win and he can go in for lessons on Monday in a limo.

“And then he can tell his mates that it was his team that handed out a lesson to theirs.”

Rotherham will be backed by a travelling army of 4,000 fans as they bid to end a three-game winless run and climb into the play-off slots.

Their allocation of tickets have been snapped up ahead of a first league clash between the White Rose rivals for 10 years.

And Warne, 44, believes seventhplaced United’s followers will roar his side to victory.

He said: “A good away following is essential for us because it can inspire the players.

“And ever since I have been here our away support has been pretty impressive for the size of the club.

“It really does help you, especially in times of fatigue. When you are tired and you can hear the crowd cheering you on, it just gives you that extra little bit.

“It does have a positive effect like that. And when there are loads of fans in the ground, it has that big game feel and gets more adrenalin into the lads.”
