BOYLE ON THE BUM FOR BOSS

Robins defender’s Burtons bonus!

-

GARY JOHNSON hit a bum note to fire his Cheltenham players up.

The Robins boss, 62, vowed to bare his backside if one of his centrehalves scored with a header.

Now he will have to go through with it, if his players have got anything to do with it, after Will Boyle nodded home Jerell Sellars’ corner to make it 2-2 in the fifth minute of added time.

Boyle, who netted from keeper Scott Flinders’ knockdown, said: “As a bit of added motivation before the game, he said if one of us centre-halves scored with a header, he’d bare his bottom in Burtons in Cheltenham.

“So I think we should probably set up a date for that if we can.”

Johnson (inset) said: “I did say to Will Boyle that he wouldn’t score a header in a month of Sundays, so it obviously worked.”

The late equaliser denied Luton top spot on goal difference and was Boyle’s first of the season, his third for Cheltenham, and second against the Hatters.

“I wish we could play Luton every week,” he said. “Hopefully it will continue and I can get one at their place.”

Dan Potts headed Luton ahead in the 11th minute from Alan Sheehan’s corner but Jamie Grimes levelled on 37 after Harry Pell flicked on Dan O’Shaughnessy’s cross.

Luton substitute Elliot Lee thought he had bagged the winner five minutes from time when he stabbed home his third of the season after Sheehan’s free-kick was blocked.

The West Ham youth product is the son of exNewcastle midfielder Rob Lee, and admits he has been getting advice from former England striker Alan Shearer. “I get a few tips from him,” he said. “He’s my old man’s best pal, so the families are very close. “He just tells me to shoot all the time. He says, ‘Hit the target and you will score’. That’s what I do. “People say no one was greedier than Alan Shearer but he scored the most goals in the Premier League.”
