Host’s wife at home to ‘do her job’

ANT McPartlin’s mis­sus has laughed off ru­mours that their mar­riage is in trouble.

Lisa Armstrong says she is not with him on I’m A Celebrity in Aus­tralia be­cause: “I have my own job to do.”

She blasted sug­ges­tions the cou­ple are es­tranged af­ter the telly star’s trou­bled past six months and time in re­hab for drug ad­dic­tion.

Fans spec­u­lated as to why she has not trav­elled Down Un­der for his three­week stint host­ing I’m A Celeb with pal De­clan Don­nelly.

Dec’s wife Ali Astall is with the pair in the Gold Coast be­cause she is their man­ager.

But Lisa pointed out she must stay in the UK where she is head make-up artist on Strictly Come Danc­ing, which does not fin­ish un­til next month.

She said: “Haven’t been to Oz for 10 years. I have a job. I’m not es­tranged thank you. As you were.”

Her out­burst fol­lows re­ports the cou­ple, who have been to­gether for 23 years and mar­ried since 2006, were “lead­ing sep­a­rate lives”.


Ant was also said to have moved into a £1.6mil­lion rental home close to their man­sion in London.

The pop­u­lar Ge­ordie host ad­mit­ted ear­lier in the year their strug­gles to have a baby had put a strain on the mar­riage.

His drug prob­lem, which started af­ter a he was vic­tim of a botched knee op­er­a­tion, has also caused fric­tion.

He apol­o­gised at the time for putting Lisa “through hell” and thanked her for her “amaz­ing sup­port”.

Af­ter his spell in re­hab in the UK and time spent re­cov­er­ing in Los An­ge­les, Ant has now been re­united with Dec in time for the ITV Jun­gle show.

Af­ter land­ing in Oz, the 41-year-old said: “I’m feel­ing great.

“The flight was all right. I had a lot of sleep and me and Dec had a good catch-up.”

Dec, 42, told the Daily Star how happy he was to have his pal back by his side af­ter a tough year.

He said: “It’s brilliant to be back to­gether, it’s per­fect. Ev­ery­thing just slot­ted back into place.

“We can’t wait and we’re raring to go.”
