- by OLIVER PRITCHARD oliver.pritchard@dailystar.co.uk

A BRITISH backpacker and her friend died after reportedly buying medicine because they were ill.

Natalie Jade Seymour, 22, and a 27-year-old Canadian were both found unconscious on the floor of their hotel room yesterday.

They are thought to have taken an over-the-counter medication bought from a pharmacy in the Cambodian city of Kampot.

They were discovered by a shocked staff member at the Monkey Republic Guest House.

Despite being rushed to the local regional hospital, they could not be revived.

A post-mortem is being carried out to establish the cause of death and local police are investigating.

A member of the hostel management said: “We are all deeply shocked and very sad for the families and friends of these two very nice women.

“It seems they were very close friends.”

Natalie is thought to be from Stotfold, Beds, and travelled to south-east Asia on November 7.
