Tragic tot’s op delays
A BABY girl died after alleged failings in her care while waiting for heart surgery that was cancelled three times.
Six-month-old Iris Day, born with a heart defect and Down’s syndrome, died last December a week before her op.
An inquest was told Iris, of Great Braxted, Essex, had her surgery at Evelina London Children’s Hospital put off three times – once due to a lack of beds.
The hearing in Chelmsford, Essex, continues.
