Kop boss Klopp in health scare

JURGEN KLOPP suffered a health scare yesterday which forced him to miss training.

The Liverpool boss took himself to hospital following advice from club medical staff. Klopp, 50, underwent tests which ruled out any serious problems, although Liverpool have refused to divulge any details.

The German was due to be released last night but is set to undergo more checks over the coming days.

He will decide this morning if he is well enough to take training today.

But he is expected to be in the dugout for Liverpool’s home clash with Southampton on Saturday. Liverpool insist his hospital visit was a “precautionary measure”.

The Kop boss (right) felt unwell overnight and called Liverpool’s club doctor, Andrew Massey, who

advised him to get checked out at hospital.

A statement read: “Jurgen Klopp has attended a hospital appointment as a precautionary measure, after feeling ill.

“He is being assessed by doctors and will be absent from training on Wednesday as a result.

“There are currently no plans for Jurgen to remain in hospital beyond his appointment.”

Assistant Zeljko Buvac took training in his absence.

Klopp spent most of the international break on holiday in South Africa.

He also missed the premiere of Kenny Dalglish biopic ‘Kenny’ in Liverpool last night, which he was due to attend with members of the first-team squad.

Kop boss Klopp had emergency surgery to remove his appendix in February 2016 which forced him to miss a game against Sunderland.
