TRANSGENDER football fans will today be able to choose the title “Mx” on their tickets for the first time.

Swansea City launched the gender-neutral move for the Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

The club said its goal is to make the Liberty Stadium more inclusive for supporters by not having just Mr or Mrs on stubs.

It has been backed by players from both sides, who are set to wear rainbow-coloured boot laces in support of the gay and lesbian community.

Lucy Norman, the team’s equality and diversity manager, said: “As a club, we’re continually looking at ways to make our services more inclusive. Language plays a really important part in delivering this and ensuring that everyone feels welcome, regardless of age, gender or gender identity, sexuality or ethnicity.”

The move for top-flight stars to wear colourful laces over the next week was launched by charity Stonewall.

Bournemouth general manager Liz Finney said: “We’re pleased to have been able to work with Swansea City on realising this goal and making football a more inclusive environment to be enjoyed by everyone.”

The decision has received a mixed reaction with critics including telly host Piers Morgan, 52, tweeting: “Congratulations, Swansea fans – you’re no longer male or female!”
