SEAN DYCHE insists that he won’t change the way Burnley play to help him land a top job.

Jamie Carragher said this week that clubs might be put off an approach for the Turf Moor boss because of his team’s direct style.

“I’m not criticising his style of play, but there’s no doubt top teams are put off if a manager gets a tag for playing direct football,” the former Liverpool defender said.

Ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Arsenal Dyche, who has been strongly linked with Everton, said: “I didn’t see Jamie’s comments but people often make you aware of these things.

“Whatever way we play, football has to be effective.

“Manchester United in their pomp could hurt you in any way. Moving that into our group and using the ball better, I think we are doing that this season.

“Do we want to mix it up? Yes. Do we want to be effective? Yes. Do we want to be awkward and hard to handle? Yes. There’s got to be a balance to it in our view.

“With a different group, we might look at things differently. Each group has different skillsets.

“I remember sitting with Alec Chamberlain, the goalkeeping coach at Watford, when I was a player.

“We were driving to a game and a Premier League manager on the radio said that if they went down, they would go down the right way.
