EMOTIONAL Coleen Rooney yesterday sensationally lifted the lid on her troubled marriage to Wayne – and admitted that she had feared it was over.

Coleen said she wanted “the truth to be known” about her and Wayne after he was arrested for drink-driving in another woman’s car while she was on holiday.

DEFIANT Coleen Rooney has finally broken her silence about husband Wayne’s night of shame – and says she wants to save her marriage. Football ace Wayne, 32, was caught drunk behind the wheel of 29-year-old party girl Laura Simpson’s car as he drove her home 12 weeks ago. Mum-of-three Coleen, 31, who was abroad on holiday at the time, has since been regularly seen out without her wedding ring. But yesterday, she poured out her heart on Facebook, denying they had ever split up. Coleen admitted Wayne was “selfish” – and she had thought her marriage could be over. She wrote: “Before all the stories begin, yes, I have put my wedding ring on. “A lot of people will be saying, ‘You don’t have to explain yourself, don’t feel like you have to do this’, etc, I know I don’t, but I am and I want to. “It didn’t feel right wearing my ring, I see it as a sign of commitment and I was unsure what was happening.” She went on: “Also a few people are probably thinking I am stupid for staying in my marriage. I am not stupid, I know my own mind and it’s something I want to try and work on. Before the headlines start .... No, I’m not taking Wayne back as he’s never left. Yes, it has been a s**t time, and yes, time was spent apart and I thought my marriage might have been at an end.”

Mistakes

Praising her husband, Coleen said: “I’m not going to list his good qualities as a person as I don’t think he deserves it at this time, but one thing is that he is a brilliant dad. He’s made silly and selfish mistakes, some he’s learnt from, some obviously not. However maybe that will change?” Coleen then appeared to blame Wayne’s boozing for his behaviour. She said: “In life, you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. But one thing I do know is that too much alcohol on a night out is dangerous and a lot of stupid mistakes are made and things are said under the influence.” And went on to add: “I would never trust ANYONE who has had a lot of alcohol, it changes some people drastically.” The Everton and former England star’s wife said that despite their wealth money “isn’t everything in life and it doesn’t always make people happy”. Explaining her reasons for staying with Wayne, she said: “It’s my decision. Do I love Wayne... yes I do. If I didn’t then I wouldn’t be trying to make it work. I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don’t want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do.” She added: “I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about, but we are as good as can be at this point, I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all lovedup….I’m just real.” JACK ANDREWS
