Doswell’s top warning

PAUL DOSWELL isn’t getting carried away after Sutton took top spot with a 2-0 win.

Only veteran Eastleigh goalkeeper Graham Stack kept the score down as Tom Bolinwa and Tommy Wright scored for Sutton in either half.

Boss Doswell said: “The players have been magnificen­t in the first half of the season but there is a lot of football still to be played.”

Eastleigh boss Richard Hill said: “Sutton are an excellent outfit and we were beaten by the better side and overall we weren’t good enough.”

Aldershot dropped from the top to fourth place after being held 0-0 by Torquay, who extended their unbeaten run to three games.

The Gulls are battling to get out of the drop zone and manager Gary Owers said: “The players have worked hard and now we are seeing the fruits of our labour.”Third-placed Macclesfie­ld kept up their title charge by beating Hartlepool 2-1 with strikes from Ryan Lloyd and Keith Lowe in the final five minutes.

Macclesfie­ld boast the league’s best record on the road and manager John Askey said: “Our away record is fantastic with eight wins.”

Snatched

Wrexham moved into second with a 2-0 home victory over Maidenhead.

Chris Holroyd netted his seventh goal of the season before James Jennings added the second after the visitors had Ryan Upward sent off.

Dover snatched a 2-2 draw at Bromley with an injury-time leveller from Kane Richards and boss Chris Kinnear said: “We could have won it.”
