SIR Cliff Richard will give copies of his own calendar as Christmas gifts for family and friends.

The star – who often has the year’s top-selling calendar – thinks it makes the ideal gift despite loved ones’ complaints.

Sir Cliff, 77, said: “It’s mandatory. I just hope they aren’t using them as a dartboard.”

The star, who recently went for a break in New York, has been No1 at Christmas four times – with The Shadows on I Love You in 1960, twice as a solo artist with 1988’s Mistletoe & Wine and 1990’s Saviour’s Day, and on Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas in 1984.

He is set to tour in 2018 to mark six decades in showbusiness since his 1958 debut hit Move It.

It comes as the singer pursues damages from the BBC in the wake of a historic sex assault allegation. He is suing the broadcaster over coverage of a police raid at his home in Sunningdale, Berks, in August 2014.

Almost two years after the raid at his home, Sir Cliff was told he would face no charges.

His legal dispute with police was settled when the force agreed to pay the singer substantial damages.

Meanwhile, another calendar that has caused a stir features Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, 65.

He is pictured holding a kitten, showing off his judo skills and posing topless with a rifle.

Reports in Russia claimed the calendars are flying off the shelves this Christmas.
