Claude hails flying Foxes

- By TIM NASH

CLAUDE PUEL says his Leicester players will remain grounded this season after their plane failed to take off at Southampton.

The bleary-eyed stars arrived at East Midlands Airport at 3.30am on Thursday following a 4-1 win at the Saints, their fourth victory in a row.

The Foxes’ plane was all ready for take off from the south coast when they were told there was a problem so they had to hastily order a bus instead.

But after just a few hours of sleep, Puel’s men trained on Thursday morning.

“We had some problems after the game – they were angry with us I think for winning,” said the City boss (inset).

“There was an issue with the plane so we came back by bus. For their recovery it’s not good but we just had to adapt.” Puel also revealed ® he has shown his players a video tribute to Jamie Vardy.

The Frenchman wants them to follow the striker’s never-say-die spirit as they prepare to host Crystal Palace today.

The England ace sprinted 70 yards to make a vital tackle and prevent a goal during the recent 3-2 win at Newcastle. “He is a player who always gives his best to his team-mates,” added Puel.

“I showed the video of the work of Jamie against Newcastle away. “After a corner, there was a counter attack, he made a saving tackle where perhaps Newcastle would have scored and won the game.

“This shows the quality of a player – a striker – to find solutions for the team. If we can all have that desire, quality and mentality, it is fantastic for the future.”
