THE Slaters are heading back to Albert Square in 2018.

Soap boss John Yorke is bringing back Kat (Jessie Wallace), her gran Big Mo (Laila Morse) and Stacey Slater’s mum Jean (Gillian Wright) in the spring.

He said: “The Slaters are one of the all-time great Shameless. IT seems that Paul Hollywood is not only out of sight, but he’s also out of mind for his former Bake Off pals on the Beeb.

In their Christmas TV special, baker Mary Berry and former co-hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc take great delight in announcing that they are a trio now.

Beaming Mary says: “It’s lovely to be back. The threesome!”

In the BBC One show – which airs at 7pm on Christmas Eve – the three stars head to Wales and the Rhondda Valley to spring a bunch of surprises on locals including a big feast in the community centre in Pentre. families and Albert Square has never felt quite the same since they scattered to different ends of the country, and in some cases Cold Feet’s Catchphrase beyond. It won’t just be familiar Slaters either.

“There are a couple of twists and characters to add fresh spice to an iconic creation.”

Viewers last saw Kat, left, in the summer in her TV spin-off Redwater when – in the final episode – she was left in the Irish Sea fighting for her life after being struck by a boat.

But she will return to Walford without her husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) or her children.

Jessie said: “Knowing what John Yorke has in store for the Slaters is incredibly exciting. Watch out Walford – Kat’s coming home.”

Big Mo, far left, below, was last seen in the BBC soap in January 2016, while Jean, far left, top, originally left the show in 2013 – although she has returned for a few cameo appearances since.

Yorke says the family are back to sort out Stacey (Lacey Turner) “in only a way the Slaters can”.
