- FORTNITE – Xbox/PlayStation

GAMERS will be opening brand new PlayStation Pros and Xbox One X consoles this Christmas.

However, with these machines costing upwards of £400, buying games on top can make it an expensive hobby.

But fret not console fans – there’s a way of enjoying a bumper festive spree without spending another penny.

And it’s all thanks to a growing genre called Free-To-Play (F2P).

Just as the name implies, Free-To-Play games are free to download and play from online stores.

The deal works because many of the games allow players to customise their characters, unlock new levels or gain new abilities for an extra, optional sum of cash.

Here’s a list of the best F2P games:

Probably the king of F2P games right now. Players become a hero in the fight to take back the world from monsters.

You’re in command of massive spaceships as you embark on tactical warfare.

You command history’s most powerful tanks to experience fast-paced battles.

An eternal fight arena where the greatest legends brawl to prove who is the best.

Heroes come from far and wide to wage war for control of magical gateways.

You are an ancient warrior asleep for centuries, woken to save a solar system.

Captain your own starship in this role play game set in the Trekkie universe.
