IF I was to show you this picture and ask you to tell me what the car is I very much doubt you’d say it was a Nissan Micra.

Why? Well just look at it. How’s that for different? Three inches longer than the last Micra, and with flowing lines, massive headlights and a back end that’s actually lower than the front it’s spot on with today’s modern look.

On sale now for between £11,995 and £19,965 depending on trim levels, the biggest seller will be a 71hp, 1.0-litre three cylinder engine which averages an impressive 61mpg coupled to CO2 emissions of 103g/km.

There’s also another three cylinder choice, a 900cc turbo with a terrific 90hp, plus a 1.5-litre fourpot diesel, also with 90hp.

Needless to say a stack of available extras are available to tempt more cash out of buyers’ wallets and one of them is a BOSE sound system with speakers built into the driver’s head rest.

This means it delivers all-round sound, so while you get so carried away with your music you drift out of lane don’t worry, the car’s safety system will, say Nissan, “gently correct the Micra back on to the right path.”

Balance

Nissan aren’t short of other things to say either. They modestly add: “The new Micra is a revolution, a fantastic car to drive, with the perfect balance between agility, excitement and the secure feeling that comes with confident and predictable handling.”

Well, there’s nothing like blowing your own trumpet.
