POCH TO CROSS FOURTH BRIDGE
MAURICIO POCHETTINO says he isn’t settling for fourth this season.
Tottenham will kick off at Burnley tomorrow down in seventh spot, 21 points adrift of leaders Manchester City and below the Clarets.
Manchester United are 10 points ahead in second and third-place Chelsea boast a seven-point buffer.
But Spurs boss Pochettino insists he is setting his sights higher than scraping into the Champions League.
“Would I take that? No,” he said. “Do I want higher than that? Yes, of course.
“I am not a comfortable person, I love to take a risk.
“I am here because I love to take a risk.
“I feel I am a winner. Sometimes the winners lose too and they have to lose to feel the pain. But I never accept a result before it is played – never.”
Pochettino’s hopes have been boosted by fitness reports on two key men.
Midfielder Victor Wanyama is back in training after picking up a knee injury in August.
And defender Toby Alderweireld remains on course to return in the new year after damaging a hamstring last month.
Wanyama has featured in just two games this season and Pochettino said: “Last season, he was such an important player for us.
“We have missed a player like him. It will be fantastic if, as soon as possible, he can be again involved.”
