FOR the last 65 years, Her Majesty has delivered The Queen’s Speech to the nation on Christmas Day.

But now Agnes Brown is gunning for that prized slot in the TV schedules.

Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll reckons that it is high time his Irish Mammy addressed the country.

He teases: “She’s a national treasure so why not? It would be hilarious, wouldn’t it? nd about time!

“The only thing is I’d be afraid of what Agnes might say about Parliament during the broadcast.

“Can you imagine her sitting there going, ‘Bunch of lazy feckers’.

“Maybe the deal I’d make is if the Queen promises not to do comedy then I won’t meddle in royal affairs.”

The BBC has once again put Mrs Brown’s Boys in a prime-time slot on Christmas Day as it has now become the mostwatched show on the box that day.

One reason is because Brendan is so busy with tours and other work that it means fans only get two treats a year – at Christmas and New Year.

But he explains: “The good thing doing two specials now is that there is an appetite for it. People will start saying, ‘You’re a pain in the a**e’ if you’re on the telly too much.

“I’m just thrilled we still have the Christmas Day slot. But I know in a few years’ time it will be someone else and we will move aside.” ¬ÊMammy’s Mummy airs on Christmas Day on BBC One at 10pm.
