A HERO grandad floored a man suspected of stabbing a mum to death in Aldi.
He then helped wrap the suspect in clingfilm to stop him escaping.
Wilf Beattie, 68, was just yards away when store worker Jodie Willsher, 30, was killed.
He turned round after hearing a commotion to see her lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
While other shoppers ran for their lives brave Wilf charged towards the suspect, punched him in the face several times and pinned him to the floor.
Family friends said he was an ex-partner of Jodie’s mum Nikki Dinsdale, 49.
Grandad-of-eight Wilf had said hello to Jodie before the attack after seeing her during his previous visits to the store in Skipton, North Yorks.
He said: “I heard this commotion. I looked around and these two fellas were having an argument. A fella had the other around the neck.
“I went over and saw her on the floor in a pool of blood. I just started laying into him. “We got him on the floor and restrained him. The cops came and put the bracelets on him and got him up. “The man didn’t say a word. He just looked down at her. I said to him: ‘You b ****** .’ Why he targeted her I shall never know.” Wilf said Jodie was a “lovely lass who was always bubbly”.
Yesterday friends and family paid tribute to “beautiful angel” Jodie after the attack four days before Christmas.
Her husband Mal changed his profile picture to one of Jodie ice skating with their daughter Megan, who started primary school this year.
He said: “She was lovely and warm and always had a smile on her face. She was amazing, beautiful and a lovely person. She was a doting mother and a loving wife.”
Cousin Chris Swale said: “How can life be so cruel, a selfless act by one person has left a husband without a wife and a little girl without her mother.”
Police last night charged Neville Hord, 44, with Jodie’s murder. He is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court today. A RACIST thug who called Jewish families “rats” and hit a security guard at a synagogue has been spared spending Christmas in jail.
Anthony Spencer, 31, from Oldham, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated beating and racially aggravated provocation or violence in Salford on March 17.
At Manchester Crown Court, Judge David Hernandez deferred sentence until March so Spencer could get “help”. AMAZON is set to go to war with Google and launch its own videosharing website after YouTube was stopped from working on its devices.
