IN THE DARK OVER FORCE!

Luke legend clashes with Jedi boss

LUKE Skywalker actor Mark Hamill confessed he clashed with the new Star Wars director.

The actor also admitted he was clueless about parts of the story in The Last Jedi.

The 66-year-old rowed with director Rian Johnson about screen icon Luke’s storylines.

He owned up: “I said to Rian, ‘Jedis don’t give up.’

“So right there we had a fundamental difference, but it’s not my story any more.

“He’s not my Luke Skywalker. I had to do what Rian wanted because it serves the story well.”

Hamill said fans know more about the sprawling franchise now than he does.

He added: “You can see them being disappointed when I talk about the films and I go ‘the medical droid’ and they reply ‘IG88’ and I go ‘OK’.”

The Skywalker actor later regretted speaking out, tweeting: “Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private.

“All I wanted was to make a good movie, I got more than that.

“Rian Johnson made an all-time GREAT one.”

Hamill is expected to appear in 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX, but that has not yet been confirmed.

Stars of The Last Jedi are feeling the force in their bank accounts after it earned £550million at the box office worldwide.

Hamill yesterday paid tribute to co-star Carrie Fisher on the first anniversary of her death, with a quote from her character Leia.

He wrote on Instagram: “No one’s ever really gone.”
