Neiley’s man for Steelers

SHEFFIELD have made a surprise swoop for Canadian forward Eric Neiley.

Steelers boss Paul Thompson said: “It’s a good time to bring someone in. We are excited to have him and he’s going to be jumping on a plane shortly.

“He plays with a little edge and he’s going to be a young guy that brings us that energy.”

Neiley hit 27 goals for Atlanta Gladiators last season and is into double figures at Adiron back Thunder this time around.

The 25-year-old turned down a handful of other clubs, both in the Elite League and Europe, and his arrival couldn’t have come at a better time.

Damage

Hard man John Armstrong has been ruled out for up to three months and needs surgery on his finger after catching it in his jersey while fighting Nottingham’s Mathieu Brisebois last Wednesday.

He said: “I didn’t feel it at the time but there is serious nerve and tendon damage.

“The finger isn’t doing anything at the moment, not moving.”

Thompson added: “I knew about Eric and actually made a decision to bring him in before we got the news about John.” JUSTIN FOX has stunned Dundee by deciding to quit.

The 30-year-old only joined in October and Stars boss Omar Pacha said: “Justin’s departure was a real surprise.”
