LUK FURY AT VOODOO CLAIM

United striker set to take legal advice

- By CHRIS McKENNA and JEREMY CROSS

ROMELU LUKAKU could take legal action against Everton major shareholder Farhad Moshiri after his voodoo claim.

Moshiri said at the Toffees’ general meeting on Tuesday night that Lukaku left Goodison in the summer after the player’s mother, Adolphine, encouraged him to follow a voodoo message to rejoin Chelsea.

The Belgium striker had refused to sign a contract extension with Everton and later joined Manchester United in a deal worth up to £90m.

Beliefs

But Lukaku has rubbished the claim made by Moshiri and is now seeking legal advice over the matter.

A spokesperson for the player said: “Romelu’s decision had nothing to do with voodoo.

“He distances himself from these beliefs and this statement and will now see what judicial steps can be taken in relation to them.

“Romelu is very catholic and voodoo is not part of his life or his beliefs. He simply had no faith in Everton and no confidence in Mr Moshiri’s project. That is why he did not want to sign.

“He wanted to make the next step in his career and wanted the security to be able to leave.”

Meanwhile, Sevilla have threatened to report United to UEFA as part of the ticket row between the Champions League rivals.

Sevilla claim United have not offered their fans enough tickets for the second leg in March.

Their allocation of 2,995 tickets is 4.1 per cent of the Old Trafford capacity. Champions League rules dictate home sides make available five per cent of the seats.

United bosses were fuming when Sevilla – who charged Liverpool fans £54 during the group stages – announced tickets would cost at least £89 for the last-16 clash on February 21.

Some tickets were £133 for the first leg at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

United hit back by charging Sevilla fans travelling to Old Trafford the same amount for the March return.

They plan to use proceeds from those ticket sales to refund their own fans who have bought tickets for the game in southern Spain.

Sevilla have also vowed to cover the cost of United’s price hike for fans who make the trip to Old Trafford.
