JAKE: NO CHARGES

But fan faces life ban

- By PAUL BROWN

WEST BROM midfielder Jake Livermore will face no action from the FA for his confrontation with a fan.

Livermore went into the crowd at West Ham during his side’s 2-1 loss at the London Stadium earlier this month.

But the FA decided to remind him of his responsibilities instead of issuing any disciplinary charge because of the nature of the incident.

Risk

The Hammers supporter is believed to have made a sick taunt about the death of his infant son.

That prompted an investigation by the FA, who were concerned that Livermore’s actions could have escalated the situation, putting the safety of himself and fans at risk.

But the game’s governing body has now concluded its probe into events and the England player, 28, will not face a fine or ban.

Livermore, a £10m signing from Hull 12 months ago, was quickly escorted away by stewards and the fan in ® question identified and ejected from the ground.

West Brom offered their “total support” to the former Tottenham player in the aftermath of the incident and sent their observations to the FA.

They said they believed “all rightminded supporters could understand” Livermore’s reaction and insisted no physical exchanges took place.

West Ham will speak to the supporter again today and he is likely to be hit with a lifetime ban from the stadium.

The FA is understood to be happy with the club’s handling of the case, which is not currently being treated as a police matter because no complaint was made.

West Ham have promised to take action if the allegation against the supporter is proven.

Livermore and his partner lost their newborn son Jake Jnr in May 2014.

A year later the midfielder tested positive for cocaine but escaped a ban because of “the unique nature of the circumstances” involved.
