WRAP up warm, folks! A freezing Arctic storm will slam Britain back into the chiller next week.

Temperatures will nosedive to -10C with heavy snow threatening travel chaos, weather experts say.

BRITAIN is set to be battered by a fierce Arctic storm as gales bring snow and sub-zero hell next week.

The winter blast heading across the Atlantic will trigger heavy snowdrifts and cause temperatures to nosedive to a bone-chilling -10C.

The bitter cold snap – feared to be the worst Britain has faced in years – threatens to cause travel mayhem as roads and transport networks struggle to cope.

The Met Office has warned of a “significant change” with strong winds, rain and snow to the end of the month. James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, advised people to wrap up in woolly scarves, hats and gloves.

He said: “We are currently in the calm before the storm. There are now strong signals for a potent wintry blast to arrive early next week.

Powerful

“Westerly winds will clash with colder air to deliver widespread and heavy snow showers across large swathes of the country.

“The snow will initially hit many northern and western areas, before impacting on many other parts of the country at times during next week.

“We have to go back a few years to the last time we experienced anything of this potency.”

Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said a powerful jet stream would dominate our weather for 10 days from Monday.

He added: “It will often be windy with spells of rain. We have a risk of cold air affecting northern Britain in particular, add the rain and there’s risk of snow.”

The warnings come as Coral make it evens for this month to be the coldest January on record in the UK.

Spokesman John Hill said: “This has already been one of the coldest Januaries in many years.”
