Charm trip to Berlin
DAVID Davis is on a charm offensive in Germany to help secure a good deal on leaving the EU.
The Brexit Secretary is in Berlin amid rumours the Germans could agree to let the UK retain access to the European single market.
A number of other major European countries are also said to be considering giving us access in return for substantial payments.
One diplomat in Europe said: “If Britain wants to trade budget contributions for access to the single market, there will be many takers.”
His visit comes after Chancellor Philip Hammond also visited the German capital to warn against punishing Britain.
