Mum blasts hoodie storm

-

THE mum of the child model at the centre of the “racist” hoodie storm has told critics to “get over it.”

H&M sparked global outrage after using an image on their website of a black child wearing a top bearing the slogan “coolest monkey in the jungle”.

But Terry Mango – the five-year-old’s Kenyan mum, who lives in the Swedish capital Stockholm– said she did not understand the backlash. She wrote in a now deleted post: “Am the mum and this is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modelled.

“Stop crying Wolf all the time, unnecessary issue here... Get over it.”

The retailer apologised over the incident and said it had removed the image from its website.

Singer The Weeknd was one of a number of celebrities who hit out at the image.

An H&M spokeswoman said: “We are deeply sorry that the picture was taken, and we also regret the actual print. Therefore, we have not only removed the image from our channels, but also the garment from our product offering.”
