Ricky’s cat is a hero to charity

-

RICKY Gervais’s cat has helped to boost an animal charity which was targeted by thieves.

Cherwell Cats Protection lost more than £300 in cat food when its stores in Bicester, Oxon, were burgled days before Christmas.

But after putting out a plea to replace the stolen stock, the charity has been flooded with donations from around the globe.

It also gained support through the Twitter account of famous feline Ollie @myleftfang – the cat famously known for being comedian Ricky Gervais’s pet.

The account shared the tweet from Cherwell Cats Protection which said: “Sadly someone has broken into our private garage store and taken almost all of our cat food.

“We are completely heart broken and feel very frustrated that someone would do this as it’s for our cats.”

Ollie’s account also praised several others for donations, and Gervais retweeted his cat’s post.

The charity said: “We are overwhelmed by the huge amounts of generosity.” OAP Barry Spears, 74, was shocked when a firework flew into his garden in Witham, Essex, and went up the backside of his Spider-Man ornament.
