HARRY HERBERT, racing manager of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said of Style De Garde after his win at Newbury: “That was fantastic. It’s so exciting. I saw him with Nicky (Henderson) and some of the owners the week before last and he was just coming to himself. Today he was much brighter and fuller.

“Nicky was wondering if this would just come too soon, but he was very impressive. He was a bit fresh early, but Nico (de Boinville) said when he was in front he was much happier.

“He’s an exciting prospect and we’re hoping he’s a Triumph horse and so Cheltenham bound in March. He’s done that with a penalty so it’s ticks all round.”
