DONALD Trump sparked global outrage last night after allegedly ranting about why the US had to accept immigrants from “sh*thole countries”.

The outspoken President is said to have repeatedly used vulgar language during an Oval Office meeting about the country’s immigration policy.

Trump’s comments sparked fury around the world, with the United Nations branding them “racist”.

And his troubles grew when the US ambassador to Panama quit saying he can no longer serve under the President.

John Feeley said he could not continue in an “apolitical fashion” so he had decided to “retire for personal reasons”.

Trump later denied using the insulting description, but admitted he did use “tough” language.

The outburst came when lawmakers took an immigration deal to him for his backing. The proposal was to cut by half a visa lottery system – which Trump dislikes. In return, the US would allow “temporary protected status” to be restored for people from earthquake-hit El Salvador and Haiti after Trump axed it.

Shameful

Following the backlash over his comments the president wrote: “The language used by me at the meeting was tough, but this was not the language used.”

He also denied saying “take them out” about Haitians. He claimed: “Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians.”

But Illinois Democratic senator Richard Durbin, who was at the meeting, insisted Trump repeatedly made “vile and vulgar” remarks. He said: “In the course of his comments, [Trump] said things that were hate-filled, vile and racist.

“I use those words advisedly. I understand how powerful they are.

“But I cannot believe in this history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak.”

UN human rights spokesman Rupert Colville said: “If confirmed, these are shocking and shameful comments from the President of the United States.

“Sorry, but there is no other word one can use but racist.” Haiti’s government said they “vehemently condemn” Trump’s comments while the African Union said it was “frankly alarmed”.

Botswana summoned the US ambassador to “express its displeasure” at the “highly irresponsible, reprehensible and racist” comments.

When asked if Theresa May viewed the countries Trump was referring to as “sh*tholes”, a Downing Street spokesman replied: “No.”
