Fuming Conte’s scorned by Jose

- By JEREMY CROSS

® JOSE MOURINHO says he has contempt for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

Manchester United boss Mourinho has been involved in a bitter row with Conte that has rocked English football.

The warring duo have traded insults ever since Mourinho implied Conte was a “clown” on the touchline, even though he claimed he was talking about himself.

A fuming Conte took exception to his comments and accused the United boss of losing his mind.

Mourinho responded by insisting he had never been involved in matchfixing – a direct reference to the fourmonth suspension Conte received in 2012 for failing to report matchfixing while at Siena.

Conte, who was cleared of any wrongdoing by a court in 2016, hit back by calling Mourinho a “little man”.

Insults

Now Mourinho has responded again after jetting back from Dubai with his United squad following a warmweather training trip.

He said: “I think when a person insults another you can expect a response. Or you can expect contempt.

“The first time he insulted me I had a response, a response that I know that touched the point where he really feels hurt.

“Then he insulted me for a second time, but now I change and now (I have) contempt.

“And for me contempt means the end of the story.”

The FA have refused to get involved in the row, despite Mourinho and Conte bringing the game into disrepute.

FA bosses have contacted the League Managers Association to ask them to intervene and act as peacemakers.

But there is no sign of the feud ending and it promises to be an explosive clash on the touchline when United host the Blues at Old Trafford on February 25.

United play Stoke on Monday.
