HAVE SEX AND BEAT THE FLU

Medics’ advice to Brits

- By ED RILEY ed.riley@dailystar.co.uk

BRITS are being urged to get steamy this weekend after medics discovered having sex could help boost your body’s chances of fighting off deadly Aussie and Japanese flu.

REGULAR sex romps can help you avoid being struck down by the killer flu outbreak, say medics.

Having lots of nookie will stimulate not only your lover but their immune system too.

And that will help your body to produce more of an antibody that is effective in the fight against viruses.

Researchers discovered that sex produces high levels of the infectionfighting Immunoglobulin A.

A study at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania found that people bedding their partner once or twice a week had 30% more of the chemical than those who did not.

And that has now raised the possibility that sex could help control this winter’s outbreak, which has so far claimed 85 lives.

A number of other studies have been carried out in recent years investigating the links between sex and fighting illness.

Exercise

It has been proven to help decrease stress, which can prevent you from catching a bug in the first place.

And it is a good form of exercise, which can also help stave off illness.

In the last week, flu deaths in England have gone up by 50% with 27 new victims..

Last week around 4,000 people were admitted to hospital with flu, up 51% on the previous seven days.

This is almost four times higher than the same week last year.

More than 2,000 are suffering from Influenza B. Another 842 people were admitted with Aussie flu, with 18 fighting for their lives in intensive care.

Experts believe that fatalities could triple within two weeks – making the flu outbreak officially an “epidemic” in parts of Britain.

Flu deaths rocketed in England by 77% in the space of a week to hit 85 deaths.

In Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, cases rose by 130%.

Victims include 18-year-old Bethany Walker of Applecross in the Scottish Highlands, who died after the virus turned into pneumonia.

England’s top doctor, Professor Dame Sally Davies, said: “It is important to take the flu seriously. The best way to protect yourself is to get the flu jab.”

Meanwhile bird flu was confirmed in 17 wild birds in Dorset yesterday although the Government said the risk to people’s health is “very low”.
