Rebekah anger at false rumour by Twitter pest
FURIOUS transgender Big Brother star Rebekah Shelton last night told fans: “I’m not dead!”
Thousands went into mourning yesterday over the former housemate who appeared on the Channel 4 show in 2009 as Rodrigo Lopes.
A message was posted on the Brazilian’s Twitter account announcing: “We’re sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time.” The news prompted a string of Big Brother stars to tweet their condolences – including Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark who wrote: “RIP Rebekah.”
Even the official Big Brother Twitter account paid tribute with the message: “Our thoughts are with her friends and family, from everyone here at Big Brother UK.”
Angry Rebekah claims her Twitter account was hacked and she is threatening legal action against the culprit.
She told her 21,000 followers: “I’m not dead! Please stop spreading this news! My lawyer is already working on this and this person who wants to spoil my happiness is going to pay for it!”
Later Rebekah, 32, added a video saying: “I have been through hell today.
“This person can’t accept the fact that I am happy. I overcame all my problems and I am finally leading my happy life.”
Big Brother viewers will best remember her as camp housemate Rodrigo in a Channel 4 summer series won by model Sophie Reade. He made headlines when BB bosses duped him into thinking he had met the Queen when they sent a royal impersonator into the house.
Four years ago Rodrigo announced that he was undergoing a sex change and now wanted to be known as Rebekah.
He had sex-swap surgery in Rio de Janeiro before returning to the UK.
Rebekah has since admitted turning to prostitution and in 2015 she tweeted that she had tried to kill herself as her father could not accept her as a woman.
