Hitman Kane be the best

- by IAN BAKER

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has backed Harry Kane to become Tottenham’s greatest player.

The Spurs boss believes he can even eclipse club legend Jimmy Greaves if he stays long enough.

England ace Kane needs one more goal to match Teddy Sheringham’s Premier League club record of 97.

Although his 125 in all competitions is still way behind Greaves’ 266, Pochettino is adamant his star can get there one day.

Kane was named Premier League player of the month for December yesterday, the sixth time he has won the award.

Pochettino said: “I hope, with luck with injuries, he will break every record.

“Harry is still only 24 and can play for 10 or 12 years more.”

Spurs play Everton today with Aaron Lennon due to face his old club after a difficult 12 months which saw him sectioned under the Mental Health Act last May.

Pochettino hailed his former player and said: “The fact Aaron spoke publicly about the issue can inspire people around the world to get some help.”
