PISTE STAG LADS RISK KEG DEATH

Ski rowdies get hammered

SKI Brits are risking their lives with high-stakes drinking games.

The boozy competitions have transformed the village of Borovets into a boom resort.

When the Daily Star went there to find out what really goes on in the legendary après ski sessions, we saw a series of games and dares.

Boisterous stag party revellers were spotted hammering a nail into a tin of high-strength cider.

As one blew into the hole left by the nail, his drinking buddy desperately swallowed the alcohol that was shooting out of the improvised “keg”.

Pairs of lads at once took on the risky challenge before lifting hammers for the next reckless drunken effort.

Swing

In one of the most popular and atmospheric bars in the village, huge logs are upended in the middle of the pub.

Revellers can buy nails from behind the bar and drive them into a log with hammers.

Taking turns to swing with all their might, using the wrong side of the hammer, each player has to drive their nail flush with the log.

As we watched, nails flew away and bounced off the ceiling.

Within minutes a young woman’s knuckles were bleeding.

There is no suggestion revellers were doing anything illegal.

A woman from the capital, Sofia, on a weekend’s ski break, said: “Bulgarian men maybe would sit and drink vodka, they would never drink cider, beer and cocktails like this all at once. But it’s fun to see how excited they get.”
