Alexis to net £2m a month

- by IAN WHITTELL

ALEXIS SANCHEZ has agreed a deal with Manchester United worth a mind-blowing £500,000 a week. The Arsenal star has netted a four-and-a-half-year deal worth around £269,000 a week AFTER tax. That staggering figure includes a massive signing-on fee with United also paying Arsenal £35m. United hope to have the transfer completed in time for Sanchez to make his debut in Saturday’s trip to Burnley. Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who trained with United yesterday – has still not agreed his move in the opposite direction. His agent Mino Raiola this week claimed Armenia star Mkhitaryan had to agree his move to the Gunners before Sanchez could go the other way. But United boss Jose Mourinho has asked

the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to press ahead with the deal whether Mkhitaryan leaves or not.

Starsport understands Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also not given up on landing French star Anthony Martial as part of the Sanchez deal.

He is believed to be still asking about Martial as talks continue over Mkhitaryan.

But Mourinho appears insistent Martial will not leave Old Trafford, despite his desire to land Sanchez.

It promises to be a busy few days for Woodward and United, who will turn their attention to securing the manager to a longer-term deal but only once Sanchez’s signature is secured.

It is understood that Mourinho and his club remain relaxed about his own contract extension, with 18 months remaining on his deal.

But the formalities over a deal that is all but agreed will only be completed when the Sanchez business is done and dusted.
