POP singer Paul Young’s wife Stacey died yesterday after a two-year battle with brain cancer.

The former model, 52, passed away at home “peacefully” surrounded by friends and family.

The couple first got together in 1983 on the video for Paul’s hit single Come Back And Stay.

In 1986, when they were still dating, Stacey had a brief fling with motorbike stuntman Eddie Kidd, but Paul went on to marry her a year later.

They had three children together – daughters Levi and Layla plus son Grady – before splitting up in 2006.

They reunited three years later, but in their time apart Stacey had a fourth child, Jude, with Israeli businessman Ilan Slazenger.

In 2014 Paul revealed that he was more in love with his wife than ever ® before. He said: “You have to work at marriage, but it helps that I know we were meant to be together.

“I have known that since I met her. She is funny, she has a good sense of humour. She’s a little bit wild, a little bit mad, but I love that about her.”

Last year he talked about how his relationship with his wife had worked second time around.

He said: “Ten years ago Stacey and I split up because things weren’t working for either of us, but then three years later we got back together again.

“I know of other people who have got back together and it hasn’t lasted, but we stuck at it. Stacey’s son, who is now 10, lives with us as well as spending time with his dad.”

His publicist said: “The family respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”
