Daily Star in a scary search for big beast

- By KATE NELSON kate.nelson@dailystar.co.uk

YOUR gutsy Daily Star got a fright when we decided to go on the prowl for the legendary big cat dubbed the Devon Devil.

Our reporter Kate, inset, teamed up with leading big cat expert Jon Downes in a bid to snare the beast.

We crept into the dark forest at Powler’s Piece, near Bideford, where there have been dozens of creepy sightings.

Suddenly we spot a piece of fur snagged on a bramble.

We pick it up with tweezers to make sure we do not contaminate the vital evidence. Jon will send it to a laboratory in Denmark for examination.

Then as darkness descends, we place ham in the middle of a patch of sand. The next morning the ham has gone.

Then we move to Common Moor and ® suddenly one of the group yells: “A skeleton”. We are shocked to discover a mass of bones – including a skull with a crushed snout – hidden near a bush.

Jon, founder of the Centre for Fortean Zoology which investigates strange animal sightings, said: “We have proven there is a carnivore near here that has killed in the same way as a big cat. I’m very excited.” MONSTER hunters could earn £50,000 in reward money if they find conclusive evidence of one of 10 global beasts including the Loch Ness Monster and Big Foot.

The cash ties in with the launch of Monster Hunter World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For more information, contact monsterhunter@ hopeandglorypr.com.
