SITTING in a pair of rubber rings, I give my kids a gentle push which sends them careering down a giant ski slope.

Skidding and spinning, they howl with laughter as they gather pace, their arms windmilling in the air.

We’re at Parkdean Resorts’ Warmwell Holiday Park, near Weymouth, Dorset. Standing out from the crowd, this place has a 110-metre all-weather ski centre at its heart with drag and button lifts.

If you don’t fancy skiing or boarding have a go at sledging down it. Or try the ringos – super-sized inflatable O-shapes, padded for sliding down slopes!

For something less speedbased, head for Warmwell’s collection of fishing lakes.

They are well stocked with carp, bream, tench, roach and perch.

Up at Warmwell’s clubhouse, there are more unique selling points – a rollerskating rink with disco lighting and a heated indoor swimming pool.

This is next to a cavernous soft-play area, with masses to do for tots and older kids, big slides and a huge ball pit. Plus there’s an amusement arcade, a bowling alley, pool tables and a fitness suite.

Outside, adventure play areas are dotted around the resort and there’s mountain bike hire, water walkers, archery, nature walks and crazy golf.

Disco

At night the place comes alive with a family entertainment programme, starting with Sid and Lizzie’s all-action character show for the little ones, who can join in with games, songs and disco.

There’s also bingo, followed by cabaret acts and reps’ music shows.

The resort’s Hardy’s restaurant has an extensive menu of pub food and the bar offers a selection of drinks promotions.

Warmwell is an all-lodge holiday park, and there’s a range to pick from to suit all budgets. Top-end accommodation comes with a kitchen island, ensuite bathroom, espresso machine, widescreen TV with Blu Ray player and soundbar, iPod docking station, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

We stayed in a comfy Osmington Lodge.

To our surprise, when having breakfast out on the decking on the first morning, a roe deer and its fawn wandered over and sat down next to our car.

The resort is ideally placed for exploring Dorset’s Jurassic coast and we took a trip to Durdle Door.
