JURGEN KLOPP will not be panicked into splashing the cash after Liverpool’s shock defeat at Swansea.

The Kop boss has indicated he is unlikely to be dashing out into the January sales before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

That is despite the Reds selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142m and a fresh injury blow for Adam Lallana, who will miss today’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with West Brom with a muscle tear.

Klopp has not lost faith in his squad depth after their 18-match unbeaten run ended with Monday’s 1-0 slip-up at the Swans, eight days after they beat leaders Manchester City.

Asked if there would be any further signings to add to the record £75m arrival of Virgil van Dijk, Klopp said: “It isn’t very likely.”

Doubt

“Our situation is always the same, we look all year. So why should I stop now only because January 31 is here?

“We are constantly looking, my iPad is full of players from all over the world.

“Has the Swansea defeat made me doubt my squad? Not a shadow of a doubt.

“I don’t know if it’s a one-off but if I was in doubt after one game that would not be too smart. I know we have to improve. I knew after Man City we have to improve.”

One bit of transfer business Liverpool may sanction is Daniel Sturridge’s potential exit, with Inter Milan launching a loan bid.

The England striker is also attracting interest from Sevilla.

Klopp refused to say if Sturridge would stay or leave but did warn he cannot guarantee him games between now and the end of the season.

He said: “I have never in my life promised a player game time for the next few months. It is not possible.” Klopp could bring back Jordan Henderson tonight with the skipper fit following a hamstring injury while Danny Ings is pushing for his first start since October 2015.

Klopp is keen to win silverware but thinks FA Cup glory no longer satisfies those who demand success at clubs.

He added: “It’s a chance, it’s an opportunity, it’s a big, big thing. Obviously, you make the decision if it’s big enough or not.

“You told me Arsene Wenger has won it three times in the last four years. I knew that he had won it three times in the last four years but is it appreciated by the people around, by you, by the press?

“You have to win it and if you win it, it’s ‘only the FA Cup’.”
