BIG BRO SWORE OF WORDS

More complaints about Ann than use of C-word

TV watchdog Ofcom had more complaints about Ann Widdecombe making homophobic comments on Celebrity Big Brother than they did about her being called the C-word.

In a remarkable twist, it seems viewers were more upset by the former Tory MP making anti-gay remarks than they were about Andrew Brady calling her an X-rated name.

It appears most agree with The Apprentice star’s sentiments about the prudish and religious ex-politician – who is still the favourite to win the Channel 5 show next week.

On Thursday, fans were left in shock when during face-to-face eviction nominations Ann singled out Andrew and his gay pal Shane Jenek for the chop.

The ex-politician, who consistently voted against gay rights when she was a Parliamentary member, blasted the pair’s “lewd” antics when they larked about rolling on the floor together.

She nominated drag queen Shane saying: “I felt that the lewd display of behaviour here the other night brought the entire house into disrepute. “It is a position that is normally adopted for a sexual purpose.” And she chose Andrew, telling him: “Again with deep regret it’s Andrew, who is the second half of the esteemed theatrical performance.” Then Ann stuck the knife in further by claiming his mum and grandmother would be shocked. Later, drunken Andrew went into a foulmouthed rant about her for bringing his family into the row by saying: “Where I’m from if you throw around comments like that you wake up in a f***ing ambulance. She’s a c***. Sorry she’s a c*** who’s an old lady.” Last night Andrew was voted out of the show and admitted: “I hold my hands up – that was out of order.” Ofcom’s latest figures echoed this. They reported that only 15 people had complained about Andrew calling Ann the four-letter word while 69 had complained about her “perceived homophobic views”.
