NEIL NOT HAVING A BALL

- by ROB COLE

CARDIFF have been training without a ball for their clash with Manchester City tomorrow.

Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock reckons his side will spend most of the match chasing shadows, trying to keep up with City stars such as Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.

“It has been the easiest week of training,” said Warnock.

“We haven’t had a ball, we have just been chasing shadows to get used it.

“We’ve been getting pieces of paper out and letting them chase them in the wind. It’s been great.”

Cardiff are third in the Championship and Warnock believes only defender Bruno Manga would stand any chance of getting into Pep Guardiola’s team.

“No disrespect to our lads, I’d still probably rather be in his dressing room than ours,” he said.

Problems

“I am sure Bruno Manga could get in their team at the minute, but he’s probably the only one.

“We want to give them problems. My team selection will have to be positive and we’ll have to be disciplined in certain areas. But if people like Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are on their game they’ll beat anyone in the world.”

Warnock knows Guardiola is taking the game seriously after he pitched up for Cardiff’s thirdround replay at Mansfield.

“It was the coldest night of the year, really bad conditions,” said Warnock.

“He came and sat in the stand. To me that is class, because he’s got hundreds of staff.

“Yet he came to watch the two teams.

“It means he cares and you’ve got to take your hat off to that.”
