DAD BODS RULE

Men swap abs for flab

- By ANNABEL HOWARD news@dailystar.co.uk

MEN are shunning plastic surgery as popularity of “dad bods” and “moobs” skyrockets.

Thousands of blokes are swapping abs for flab with liposuction procedures plummeting by 20%.

Tummy tucks are out of fashion – down by 12% – as meaty bellies are back on the menu and “moob jobs” fell by 65%.

Popular celebs James Corden, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel are among stars who have rocked the softer dad-bod physique, making it more fashionable.

And Hollywood heart-throbs Leonardo DiCaprio, 43, and 64-year-old Pierce Brosnan last year dropped their six-packs for a “beer belly”.

Selfie-obsessed blokes are instead now splashing the cash going under the knife for facial procedures.

Demand for eyelid and brow lift surgery has seen a sharp rise of 25% and 27%, according to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

And facelifts are also in vogue with 16% more operations. Consultant plastic surgeon Rajiv Grover said: “For men, the media’s adoption and celebration of the more natural looking ‘dad bod’ is possibly a driver in this trend.

“It shifts the focus to the face rather than the body – a shift that has lessened the pressure for a sculpted figure and instead allow roundness or softness.

“Society, unfortunately, has a history of being more forgiving towards men’s physiques than women’s.”
